The Volkswagen Arteon four-door may soon be accompanied by a wagon counterpart.
This news came out of Volkswagen’s annual media conference in Berlin, Germany, last week. Volkswagen characterized the model as a “shooting brake.” That suggests a wagon with two doors, but it’s our understanding that VW is speaking more generally about a sporty wagon, and we expect that the Arteon variant will keep the sedan’s rear doors (in the same way that Mercedes-Benz has marketed a four-door CLS Shooting Brake in Europe).
There’s no word on when a second Arteon model will be available, but U.S. wagon fans should not get their hopes up that a wagon would come here. We can, however, look forward to an R-Line variant of the current Arteon, which will make its debut at the New York auto show later this month.
