Acura is the latest luxury automaker to dip its toes into the subcompact-crossover segment with the new CDX, and Car News China, a website dedicated to the Chinese automotive industry, has leaked early photos ahead of the vehicle’s official debut at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show.

As the CDX heads into battle with vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz GLA-class, BMW X1, and Audi Q3, it’s armed with Acura’s new corporate grille. The large, five-point piece replaces Acura’s previous “beak” grille and debuted on the Acura Precision concept in January. It was later shown on the production 2017 Acura MDX at the New York auto show.

Little hard information is currently known about the CDX, although the diminutive CUV likely shares much of its basic platform with the Honda HR-V. A version of the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that’s already available in the 2016 Honda Civic is expected under the hood. All-wheel drive certainly certainly will be an option, and images published to Carscoops indicate the CDX will use Honda’s eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which features a torque converter, as seen in the Acura ILX and TLX.

While there’s no word on U.S. availability for the pint-sized Acura CDX, Naohisa Morishita, the chief drivetrain engineer for the HR-V, told Automotive News in 2014 that the company was looking into producing an HR-V–based Acura crossover for China and other markets. We reached out to Acura for comment on the CDX’s U.S. prospects, and the company says that it’s “looking at new markets [for this vehicle], but right now it’s just a China-specific model.”
