Yesterday’s rumor mill proposed that the Tesla Model S would soon receive a facelift and a higher-capacity battery pack. We now have confirmation of half of that rumor, as Tesla’s website now shows a Model S with a revised, grille-less front end that more closely matches the Model X SUV and the recently revealed Model 3.
There’s no word yet on the possible 100D model with a 100-kWh battery pack for increased range, although the updated Model S page does show increased range for the 90D and P90D models. The 90D goes from 270 miles to 294 miles, while the high-performance P90D goes from 253 miles to 270 miles. We don’t yet know where this extra range comes from, but we’ve reached out to Tesla for comment.
Other changes include an upgraded 48-amp charger that replaces the old 40-amp system for faster charging, two new interior trim choices (Figured Ash Wood and Dark Ash Wood), and the special air-filtration system that was introduced for the Model X. We’ll keep you updated with more information as it becomes available.
