If you’re a fan of movies about automotive history, here’s a piece of good news. Asif Kapadia, who directed the stunning Ayrton Senna documentary Senna, has been tapped to direct a biopic about the founders of Rolls-Royce. The film, titled  Silver Ghost, is produced by Martin Scorcese.

The film centers on the relationship between Charles Rolls (above) and Henry Royce (seen below) at the beginning of their namesake company in the early 1900s. Lord John Douglas-Scott Montagu, a friend of Rolls and Royce, will also be featured along with his mistress Eleanor Velasco Thornton, who inspired the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy mascot.

Kapadia’s Senna is easily one of the greatest films ever made about motorsports, so his inclusion in this project is promising. Production is set to begin later this year, according to Autoblog.

Silver Ghost is among many automotive biopics currently in various states of production. Two films about Enzo Ferrari are set to begin filming soon and a Ferrucio Lamborghini biopic is also in the works.

Kapadia and Scorcese make somewhat of a dream team together, so Silver Ghost will certainly be a film to keep an eye on.
