We reported last year that Aston Martin had trademarked DB10, DB11, DB12, DB13, and DB14, suggesting a continued lineage of David Brownness at the storied British automaker. Now we have confirmation that the next Aston GT, successor to the long-running DB9, will skip the DB10 badge (leaving it solely for James Bond’s use) and, in grand Tufnelian fashion, turn things up to DB11. They also released a very high-resolution teaser image, which we have handily cropped for your edification.
According to Aston, the new car will be officially unveiled next year and represents “the first major product of the company’s bold Second Century Plan.” From what we’ve gleaned of said scheme, we’ll see a global Lagonda product of some sort—not just the limited-market Lagonda Taraf—as well as an SUV-type thing along the lines of the DBX concept plus replacements for Aston’s traditional sporting lineup.
But for now, the only confirmation we have is of the DB11. What badge might the Vantage successor wear? Will the DBX remain all alpha and non-numeric? At this point, so soon into its second century, Aston’s staying mum. But at least it left us a nice Easter egg.
