Without naming Bhushan and Yadav, but referring to statements and letters by the two senior leaders, Singh said at the press conference on Monday, "For the last six to eight months there have been efforts to remove Arvind Kejriwal as the party convenor."
Holding up a scathing interview of Shanti Bhushan to a Hindi daily in which he said Yadav should replace Kejriwal as the convenor, Singh added, "Is this democracy? Will the volunteers like it? Those wanting to remove Kejriwal as party chief should also take the emotions of party workers into consideration." He then announced that the party's national executive will hold a meeting on March 4 to decide on the differences within the party. However, things were a lot different on Sunday when the two warring factions had almost thrashed out a compromise, AAP leader Anand Kumar, who is one of the three peacemakers appointed to mediate between Kejriwal, Yadav and Bhushan, told ET.
"It was nearly done. Prashant (Bhushan) met us (3-member mediation panel) on Sunday morning and we spoke for two hours.
Yogendra (Yadav) met us around 11 pm on Saturday and we discussed things till 2 am. After that Pankaj Gupta met Kejriwal and it was all looking good," he said. The compromise, according to him, started unraveling once Shanti Bhushan's statement to a newspaper in UP surfaced.
