If you want to drive fast, especially on track, your seating position is of chief importance. But not everyone knows how to achieve an ideal position, and it’s not necessarily the most intuitive thing to figure out. For those in that camp, Porsche factory driver Patrick Long explains how get yourself situated perfect in a Porsche video promoting the new 911 R.

Even if you’re an experienced driver, this video provides a great review. Ideally, you want to sit low, and you want a slight knee bend when the clutch and throttle are fully depressed.

With the seat set, you then move to the steering wheel. Here, you need enough of a bend in your elbow to clear your knees when you have the steering wheel at full lock. You also want to keep your shoulders touching the back of the seat. Keep this in mind, and you’ll be ready to attack any back road or racetrack.
