New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated Uttar Pradesh BJP in-charge and his close aide Amit Shah on being appointed as the party President. That announcement was made by the party's Parliamentary Board which met today to nominate Shah.
Modi said, "The party will become stronger under Shah's leadership. Amit Bhai started his journey as an ordinary Karyakarta and has repeatedly proven himself through tireless hardwork & determination."
He also thanked Home Minister Rajnath Singh for his leadership saying, "I would like to specially thank Rajnathji for his great leadership, under which the party scaled new heights of success."
The elevation comes just months after Shah mangaed a massive 73 seats for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha elections.

Shah was last week accorded a 'Z-plus' category security by the Home Ministry following high threat perception, official sources said. The BJP leader, who was instrumental in the party's landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh in Lok Sabha elections, has so far been under the security of Gujarat Police.
