Anantnag district of South Kashmir: IAF MIG-21 crashed

Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft MIG-21 crashed at Marhama Sangam on National Highway in Bijbehara of Anantnag district in South Kashmir on 27 May 2014. The pilot squadron leader Raghu Banshi died on board in the crash.


The body of the pilot was recovered and carried to an IAF base and the injured co-pilot has been rushed to the Military hospital in Srinagar. However, no civilian death or loss of property was figured out in the crash as the plane crashed into the open field.





The MIG plane took off from Quil Pulwama Airbase, 25 kilometer from the crash point, for a routine daily exercise. Apart from this, a court of inquiry has been ordered into the MIG-21 Aircraft crash.
