The 550-hp GT C coupe starts at $146,995 (the convertible C and 577-hp GT R both sticker for $12K more) and is both the sweet spot in this lineup and easier to live with day to day than the track-focused R. The hardtop’s hatchback also affords more usable cargo space than the roadster’s trunk. These higher-spec models come well equipped, with nearly all of their options being decorative in nature. Dedicated track rats may want to spec the C’s $8950 carbon-ceramic brakes and a set of grippier ultra-performance tires for $600, and hedonists may be interested in fancier paint, interior-trim upgrades, or one of AMG’s extra styling packages. We’d be fine with just the standard kit, though, which is highlighted by:
• Wider rear fenders and wheel track with active rear-wheel steering
• AMG Performance exhaust and seats
• Burmester premium audio system and 8.4-inch infotainment screen
